The historic district does have limitations on rebuilding and new construction that limits the looks of new construction homes like the one in the video. You must build or rebuild to match the community. Many of the homes in Dixieland and nearby Beacon Hill were build in a growth boom between the 1920's and 1940's.
Dixieland was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994, and is one of the cities most traditional neighborhoods. The mature tree canopy, the grid pattern of streets and alleyways and the historic street lights all adding to the historic feel.
Dixieland's prime Lakeland location between Harden Boulevard and South Florida Avenue gives you access to major roads for North and South travel, as well as shopping and entertainment at Lakeside Village and Downtown, as well as all along South Florida Avenue. You can walk to Lake Hunter as well as Lake Hollingsworth and Lake Morton from Dixieland.
